SoSlam is a small non-profit community collective made up of a group of local musicians. SoSlam aims to provide music promotion, management, advice and opportunities to local musicians and bands in the Southend-on-Sea area.
Everything we do we do under the SoSlam name is on a voluntary basis. We work with local musicians of all ages, musical genres and experience. We help link musicians together and work with event co-ordinators, festival organisers, private hires, pubs, restaurants and student unions to provide them with the right fit for their event and function. We also link with other local promoters and music businesses.
We know our limitations and when we can't handle something we advise accordingly and direct the musicians, bands and businesses to the appropriate place.
We run regular nights at The Alex in Southend and Peggy Sues Music Bar in Leigh.
We run a singer - songwriting night on the last Tuesday of every month at Peggy Sues Music Bar in Leigh. The emphasis of these nights is to showcase original music. The nights are called Battlelines because each month a group of musicians are given a line on which to base their original song.
In 2016 we started our very own micro digital label with 100% of sales going directly to the muscians.
We recently started a Young Musicians Songwriters Lab to help support, develop and encourage the next gernation of local Southend Musicians and we faciltaite a monthly Young Musicians Open Mic at Peggy Sues on the 1st Sunday of each month 4pm - 7pm.
We run songwriting workshops for adults on a monthly basis to help them develop their skills and build up to performing live.
We are in partnership with Seacroft Studios and London Road Studios.
For the love of live local music....
